Job Overview – Storekeeper (Procurement Department)
The Storekeeper will be responsible for the daily operation of university storerooms that stock civil, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general maintenance materials. This role ensures that all inventory is accurately recorded, safely stored, and efficiently issued to support university projects and maintenance activities.
The position requires a strong balance of administrative, technical, and customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive all incoming materials and verify them against purchase orders
- Inspect deliveries and report damaged or incorrect items
- Maintain accurate inventory records, including receipts, issues, adjustments, and returns
- Ensure stock levels remain within approved minimum and maximum quantities
- Pick, label, price, and issue materials to authorized staff
- Handle stock rotation and disposal of obsolete or surplus materials
- Prepare low-value purchase orders and assist in procurement activities
- Manage returns of cancelled or defective items to suppliers
- Use CAFM / CMMS systems to manage store operations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of storerooms
- Ensure compliance with UAE regulations, including VAT documentation
- Provide professional customer service to internal departments
Qualifications & Experience
- High school certificate or equivalent (diploma/degree preferred)
- Courses in inventory management, space management, or warehouse operations
- Minimum 7 years of supply chain or storekeeping experience
- Preference for candidates with 10+ years of experience
- Experience in facilities, maintenance, or construction materials is an advantage
- Valid UAE driving license
Skills Required
- Strong knowledge of maintenance materials and spare parts
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Good computer skills (MS Office, inventory software)
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Basic understanding of budgeting and cost control
- Knowledge of health and safety standards
